The Marocca, the colors from Morocco on a cement tile
Do you think a cement tile always has a pattern? This Marocca is an even tile in today's colours. The shape also deviates from the standard square model, which is rectangular (7.5x30) and extremely suitable for herringbone or for placing straight on top of each other. The colors are not completely uniform but have a beautiful lived appearance that only become more beautiful the longer they lie on.
The Marocca is only available at Designtegels. The origin of the name goes even deeper than just the country of production. In Casola in Lunigiana, Tuscany, sandwiches are made in this rectangular shape to this day. The sandwiches are quite hard and have been given the name Marocca. This seemed to us the right name for this tile collection: Mediterranean, lively, sandwiches, stone & Morocco. A super suitable tile for your bathroom, hall or kitchen. Do you want it on the floor or on the wall? You can do both!
Handmade Moroccan cement tile
The production process of the Marocca tiles is the same as that of our Portuguese cement tiles or pattern tile. The tiles are pressed in a mold and provided with a color layer consisting of marble powder. However, these tiles are made in Morocco. Here they use slightly different ingredients and colors, making the surface slightly more lively than our Portuguese variant. And that is precisely what makes these tiles phenomenally beautiful!
The shapes and colors of the Marocca
These elongated tiles have a nice rectangular model of 30.5 by 6 cm and are available in different colours. These tiles must be impregnated during installation, after which the colors become even more vibrant. Because the tile is not fired, the impregnation process ensures that the tile is sealed against dirt. The thickness of 1.6 cm ensures that you can place them on the floor as well as on the wall. Do you already see the Moroccans in your interior? A floor with herringbone in your hall or a beautiful wall in your bathroom. In addition to our standard elongated model, we also have custom shapes of the Marocca's. Are you looking for a cement tile in the shapes fish scale, diamond, hexagon, square or oblong? We can also have these shapes made for you in the desired colors in our factory in Morocco. Because the colors are added by hand to each tile, it can differ per delivery or even per box. This is inherent in the tile and provides a nice lively effect on a large surface.

Marocca tiles are exclusively commissioned for us and are not for sale anywhere else in the Netherlands. The tiles have vibrant colors and nuances, we recommend that you come and see these tiles in person before you order. The tiles can be seen in our showrooms in Breda or Utrecht, where you can view several tiles together. You can also order samples via our website. We recommend that you always order more than 1 sample so that you can clearly see the color nuance of the tile. Even then, it is possible that the color does not completely match the sample that you have seen in our showroom or that you received as a sample.
