A week in Sint Maarten with our tiles.

Because my father lived there, I regularly went there on holiday too, and after several holidays I decided to stay. Sint Maarten is an addictive island full of parties, culture and nature. Especially when you are young, paradise keeps you firmly in its grip. But after 5 years, it was time to swap the white sands for the clay of the Netherlands! And that was not a bad decision in itself. In the years after I left, I returned at least once a year, enjoying being on my little island and visiting old friends. So it was again last month, when my younger sister and I decided to take a minibreak and spend a week in Sint Maarten.



When my friend Kobbe, with whom I camped on uninhabited islands around Sint Maarten in my younger years, heard that I was coming, he immediately offered us a B&B in Philipsburg, the capital of the Dutch side. His family home, with a truly fantastic view over Philipsburg Bay, had been converted into 2 apartments that now served as a bed and breakfast. What is more, the apartment where we stayed was fully tiled using Designtegels tiles!



From this wonderfully relaxed spot, which is also perfectly centrally located, we had a fantastic week. Sint Maarten really is a delightful island with something for everyone. It has recovered well after Hurricane Irma, and you can have the time of your life if you love sun, sea and sand. I have agreed with Kobbe that I would at least give my loyal customers the opportunity to enjoy a lovely week in this beautifully located, very spacious 2-bedroom apartment.
