Inside Marjolein Bouhuijzen’s home

Welcome to the home of Marjolein Bouhuijzen. In August 2021, we met Marjolein; the plans for her brand-new house (which was being built at the time) were ambitious! Her vision and dreams came together completely, and she has brought both to life.

Which tile will it be?

After a tour of our showroom in Breda, taking a pile of samples home, creating moodboards in the shop and another look around our showroom in Utrecht, she had made up her mind. The Moroccan tiles, with their handmade, sandy appearance and beautiful colours, completely won her over. The tiles are now an integral part of the design!

Bathroom splendour

The bathrooms in the house are particularly impressive. With ceilings as high as 5 metres! it was a unique opportunity to show the Moroccan tiles at their best. The entire wall was tiled, creating a real focal point!

Pink with gold

In the children’s bathroom, Marjolein chose the Platta Gris Rose Soleil. This Moroccan tile in the Soleil shape is special because of its unique form. When Marjolein saw this shape, we did not even have it in our collection yet, but she had to have it in this colour! Following the fantastic response, we now have this tile as a standard part of our range. But would you like this tile in a different colour? That is possible! Ask us about the options.

Tile art in the bathroom

In Marjolein’s own bathroom, she chose a Zellige. This tile is thinner and can therefore only be used on walls. This tile is also fresh off the press; we call the shape d’Art. Because it is a work of art in its own right! The tiles are supplied on sheets and are therefore easy to install, which is handy when you need to tile up to such a height! Both bathrooms have become real showstoppers! The combination of the soft tile colours with the dark vanity unit and golden taps is exactly how Marjolein envisioned it, and completely on trend!

Practical in the hallway

In the hallway, you will find a different type of tile. This Lands Stripe is a ceramic tile and, although it looks as though it consists of small tiles, it is actually one large 120x60cm tile. Very practical, then, and easy to keep clean! Ideal for the hallway, where there is a lot going on. The Terracotta colour works beautifully with the rest of the space.
